Uganda Village Project is led by a small, experienced team, with day-to-day program implementation and community engagement managed by our Uganda-based staff.
Leadership
Stephanie has spent the past two decades working and volunteering with a variety of non-profit organizations in the UK, US and Switzerland, including many years as the Financial Director of Street Kids International based in London. Stephanie holds an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Manitoba. She currently lives with her husband, three children, and dog in Verbier, Switzerland. She is an outdoor enthusiast and triathlete in her spare time!
Program Staff
Harriet holds a postgraduate diploma in Project Planning and Management and a Bachelor’s in Development Studies from Kyambogo University and recently completed her Master’s in Monitoring and Evaluation from the Uganda Martyrs University. She is passionate about public health, women’s empowerment and education, and community engagement. Harriet has nine years of experience with NGO program management and development and has a diverse background in sexual reproductive health (SRH), livelihoods, research, and advocacy. She loves empowering communities and creating change in the lives of vulnerable populations.
Alex first served as Team Leader during the 2017 UVP Internship Program, where he supported implementing the Healthy Villages program. Alex later became a volunteer with UVP, until joining the organization full time. He holds a degree in Social Work and Social Administration from Kampala University and additionally obtained a Certificate of Leadership Skills from the university’s School of Arts and Social Sciences. Alex is passionate about public health, with experience in WASH programming. Alex’s internship with UVP, prior internship at the Iganga main referral hospital (Nakavule), and volunteer opportunities helped him gain experience in planning, organizing, and coordinating activities with low resource communities. Alex loves helping and working with people in the communities to become agents of change and facilitators of their own well-being.
Robert has over 10 years of experience working with NGOs in Uganda having worked with both national and international organizations including Redeem International and Lutheran World Federation . Robert holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation from Uganda Management Institute and a Bachelor of Community Based Rehabilitation from Kyambogo University. Robert has a wealth of experience in project management, community development, SRHR, women rights and empowerment, livelihoods and youth programming. He is passionate about community transformation and loves playing soccer during his free time.
Judith is a hardworking woman who also enjoys doing physical exercise. She has several years of experience with patient identification, community mobilization and sensitization, counseling and guidance education sessions in public health activities among others. She holds a certificate in medical records and information management system from PMI training and consultancy center.
Board of Directors
Jeff has over a decade of private, non-profit, and government sector experience in development, communications, operations, and project management. Jeff holds a BBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and an MPH in Community Health Sciences from the Fielding School of Public Health at UCLA, during which he completed field work in Bangladesh. Jeff is passionate about global health, health equity, and strengthening health systems. He currently lives in Brooklyn, New York.
Alison serves as an emergency medicine physician at Brown University Emergency Medicine and Assistant Professor at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She has been involved in Uganda Village Project as co-founder since its inception in 2003 and served as Assistant Director and Director from 2005 to 2013. Alison completed her MD at Penn State University and her BA at the University of Rochester.
Matthew Moring is the Senior Financial Analyst for Mass General Brigham International Advisory, where he oversees the financial performance and core financial functions of the large global healthcare advisory organization. He is passionate about supporting the business operations of international healthcare organizations to promote quality healthcare access globally. Matthew brings a strong background in financial oversight, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration, and utilizes these skills to build scalable financial structures and deliver financial reporting that support informed decision-making. Matthew holds a B.S. in Economics from Xavier University, and currently resides in Boston, MA. Outside of work, Matt enjoys fishing in the summer, and skiing during the winter months.
Sarah currently works as the Director of Project Management for Mass General Brigham Global Advisory. She has an extensive project management background, previously working for Emergency Medicine International and in the clinical research industry. Sarah was a UVP Healthy Village summer intern in 2010, serving as Team Leader for the Health Centre team. She earned a MPH in 2011 with a concentration in International Health and Development. Outside of work, Sarah is passionate about animal welfare and triathlon.
Krista is a purpose-driven marketing professional with a passion for using business for good. She has a special affinity for Africa, having spent time in developing a sustainable pricing model for a community-based NGO in Johannesburg and leading marketing for a social enterprise in Kenya. Krista completed her MBA at the University of California, Irvine and holds a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Chico.
Raj has a background in accounting and supports community development and education efforts for those in need. He previously interned with PricewaterhouseCoopers, working on SOX and SOC 2 audits for top technology companies. Prior to that, he interned with the Texas Government to determine the amount of funding cities would receive for economic development. Raj completed his B.S. and M.S. in Accounting from The University of Texas at Dallas.
Brian currently serves as Director, Brand Marketing and Communications at the Bowery Mission. A communications specialist, he also previously worked at International Justice Mission in Uganda where he led public information campaigns and high-level advocacy engagement to galvanize community leaders, the police force, and the judiciary to stop forcible eviction and land grabbing in Uganda. Brian completed his BA in Journalism and Mass Communication at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda.
Astrid works at J.P. Morgan as a Global Corporate Banker, advising Swiss multinational corporations in their global financing strategy. Astrid is a French and German citizen who graduated from HEC Paris, France, and has spent her whole career in the Finance industry (Lehman Brothers, Deutsche Bank and now J.P. Morgan, based in Zurich, Switzerland). At J.P. Morgan, Astrid serves as a co-chair of the Swiss PRIDE/LGBTQ+ Business Resource Group and is an active member of Women On The Move. Astrid is leading the J.P. Morgan internal ESG workstream for the Global Corporate Bank, a group of 15 bankers getting together to promote key ESG related themes to the bankers’ community. Astrid loves outdoor activities, yoga, reading and spending time with her family.
Carey is a grants and program management professional. She previously worked at the Fistula Foundation to improve access to obstetric fistula repair surgery throughout Africa and Southeast Asia and with the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Research in Bangladesh to track the country’s cesarean delivery trends. She currently serves as Senior Practice Specialist, Global Health Division at Chemonics International. Carey completed her MPH from the Fielding School of Public Health at UCLA and BA from St. Mary’s College of California.
Marissa works in public health research, and is a passionate advocate for evidence-based health programming and policy. Marissa currently works with Global Give Back Circle as their MEL Senior Lead, working on programs to advance girls’ and women’s socioeconomic empowerment in rural Kenya. Her previous positions include work around gender equity and health policy at UCLA’s WORLD Policy Analysis Center and at the Population Council in Zambia. She completed her LLM in Public International Human Rights at Universiteit Utrecht, her MPH at UCLA’s Fielding School of Public Health, and BA at University of California, Berkeley.
